Hi *,
I would like to see kdenonbeta/konqsidebar_plugins/konqsidebarnews moved
to kdeaddons. It's an applet for the konqueror / universal sidebar to
navigate and view RSS sources. A similar feature is already available for
nautilius and mozilla for quite some time but is still missing for KDE.
Screenshots are available in the pre-announcement:
http://dot.kde.org/1049415292/
The movement has originally been announced for KDE 3.2 and is listed on
the KDE feature plan for a long time now. Unfortunately the applet was
not ready for 3.2 because of some major missing usability features.
Well, these are implemented now and people are increasingly bugging me
(via private mail and also kde-devel) to include the applet in the KDE
release. Keeping the KDE 3.3 timeframe in mind I think now is the time to
do so.
Konqsidebarnews is next to the kontact plugin the second --- actually the
first --- tool based on the RSS DCOP service (besides Ians cool kjs
playground of course ;-)). So there is no compile time dependency but
without kdenetwork/dcoprss the applet is quite useless.... Therefore
moving it to kdenetwork instead of kdeaddons might also be appropriate.
Objections? kdenetwork, kdeaddons or kdeblackhole?
