It does and I expect this to stay the case at least until no major 
distribution has used it for its primary compiler for at least a year.

I still run 2.95 at home.  (It's significantly faster at compiling C++.)  I 
usually check to make sure that things are building regularly with 2.95, but 
didn't try branch just before release...
