Remove progressbar from splash

Hello,
Whose blessing do I need to remove the progressbar from the default splash
screen? Or is such a thing better discussed in kde-artists or suchlike, and
if so, which one?
It provides no extra information, since the list of icons flashing is
essentially a progressbar, and removing it solves the following problems:

1. No more worrying about stupid defaults chosen by widget schemes, see
       http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=68643
for an example.

2. More space for longer strings, especially useful in languages other than
English:
       http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72401

Since I am the maintainer of ksplashml, I would normally go ahead and do it,
but since I am mucking with the look of ksplash which is well-established, I
want to make sure I don't raise any hackles.

Regards,
Ravi
