Well now, that's interesting. Not surprising, really, since kgrantpty is a 
setuid app that chown's ptys in a surprising way. I doubt it'd pass a really 
serious code inspection. If you've not got that, it's going to fall back 
to .. something else, which probably falls back in the end to doing nothing 
on systems without chownpty and other linuxisms.

I can muck through the code again to see what happens -- I can see that if I 
remove kgrantpty, I get the same messages on FBSD.
