Somebody already made a proposal to support application bundles for
stand-alone KDE applications some time ago. It would be nice to see support
for KDE applications that can be installed and executed under an arbitrary
prefix (which is different from $KDEDIRS). KStandardDirs should then
automatically look into the application prefix, too.
Your idea looks like exactly that, so could you post a patch against KDE head?
