Something like this is exactly what I wanted to propose as
a compromise.

Personally I'd prefer to have the complete page replace with
a protest, and require the use to click on one of two prominent
links (at top and bottom of protest side) to get to the original
content. But this seems not to get a big consent.

So I support Dirks basic proposal to put a prominent protest/info
text box onto the front site.
