I'm still working on the new resolver and socket code. The resolver code is
finished and tested and it's working. But since I'm basically the only person
so far who has used it, there are a lot of rough edges. And I don't even know
if it compiles outside Linux/glibc 2.3.
The socket code is still incomplete but going along. I've been unable to use
my computer for a month so I had no way of coding or even accessing CVS.
What's more, since this code is to be part of Qt in the future, I need some
TT review and it seems my peer in there has been quite busy with other stuff.
Anyways, I'll need the code to be moved out from kdenonbeta into kdelibs soon.
The library will be marked private and shall not be used outside kdelibs and
kdebase until we deem it's reached API maturity. That way, we'll be able to
make BIC changes if necessary.
I'll see how my KDE build goes now and I'll mail sysadmin asking for the code
to be moved, so that we get more people compiling the code before beta 1 is
tagged. That's not to say I'd like more time (I do), but I'll try to manage
with the two weeks.
(Note: the resolver code will go into KDE 3.2; it's ready and it's working and
it resolves quite a number of problems)
