That's some weird staticness changes. As Jason pointed out, I asked for it. 
BUt nt for this, though .. I just want GetPid to be compiled seperately, as a 
C file, so that my broken system headert files don't cause it to barf. I dont 
think changing staticness on any thing else is needed.

that said, i'm recompiling base fropm scratch again, lets see what happens for 
me.
