maybe because for 90% (?) of the kde developers a debug build _is_ their
production system? not that this particular patch would make a big
difference, but as the work is already done (mostly), i don't see a
reason not to actually use it (and as long as there are no downsides
...).
i won't comment about the actual patch; kdebug is an alien to me. :)
