This version is compiled and tested. (Previous version had some files that
sholdn't be part of the path)

Note: defaults has changed to make this effective... (from shell output to no 
output, syslog output also outputs on shell)

At least that is the intention - it is late...

BTW the checks added in .h file should not change binary compatibility [IMHO]
since they are compiled into the target. If the target does not contain that 
code the patch wont be maximum effective - but still work.
