Yes, I updated prior to patching it.

Some thoughts:

- I use the mac-style top menus and those affect KWin quite a lot, judging
  from all your commits. Might be related.

- I didn't login again after the crash, I used kwin --replace or I started
  kwin from a virtual console (export DISPLAY=:0). Thus, the other running
  apps were started under supervision of the old kwin checkout, if that
  matters. I don't think so, I restarted ksirc before each try.

- My ksirc is several months old, and while it uses current kdelibs it
  could very well be that your checkout no longer exhibits the bug.
  Nevertheless, even a (broken?) app shouldn't be able to get kwin to
  its knees, so it still needs fixing.

- After sending the mail I noticed that it also fixed the crash that I had
  the last couple of days when trying to make xine go full screen. Xine is
  also a pretty old version, but again, kwin shouldn't choke on it.
