This is true, but I don't even think that alsa 2.x will be available anytime
soon... and maybe alsa 1.2 could change the api, etc... the generic approach
will not give any advantage if any something like that happens. we'll have to
change it anyway (by checking SND_LIB_MINOR and so on).
really, I don't see any real advantage but, well, apply the patch you like
better. you have a cvs account then you have the power to do it ;-)
