So again, if it's trivial why would you port something to use a class that's
already deprecated and lacks the functionality of the solution that isn't?

First the above -- it makes no sense to port something from a supported API to
a deprecated API. If that's a step towards using KConfig_XT and as easy a
step as you make it sound why not do it now?
Second -- every indication that I saw in the previous discussion on this list
indicated that KAutoConfig was going away before 3.2; I haven't yet heard
different. It doesn't make much sense to release an API that we intend to
remove so quickly -- especially since if the things on this list are to be
believed there's not much still using.
