As Nicolas who works on the VPL part in Quanta doesn't read this list (AFAIK), 
I respond here: he was so enthusiastic about this addition, as it solves many 
problems there, that he already started to use it, and committed to the CVS 
the implementation. So I had to disable that code until it really gets in the 
CVS. I think it makes clear that from our POV this would be a must to have.
