API Doc Images

Recently I added several icons for the kde designer widgets and that got me 
thinking about the possibility of adding images to the kdeui widget classes 
similar to what TrollTech does in their API docs.  For example: 
http://doc.trolltech.com/3.1/qslider.html#details  Is this a bad/good idea?  
Has it already been hashed ten times before or simply never brought up?
