well, i've tested it on a PPro 266 with 256MB of RAM and a 5400 RPM IDE drive 
using SUSE's 8.2 RPMs and i didn't notice a difference. far from emperical, 
but it's what i've got to offer at this point =)

as for the kpersonalizer stuff, if we can do panel icon zooming and icon 
highlighting, i'd think we could handle loading 2 or 3 more icons in a dialog 
=)
