I had the exact same message on my SuSE 8.2 system in the CUPS log files and
everything refused to print. In fact, it wasn't just KDE applications which
triggered it (may have been caused by it though, who knows), none of my apps
could print.
I couldn't fix it, so I removed everything ghostscript/cups/foomatic/hpijs
related on my system (including rm -rf'ing the directories which weren't
quite empty) and it now works.....
