KDE 3.1: one week delay

   That is not a solution in general though.  Remember that people do upgrade 
systems.  If the problem occurred sometime after 3.0.x but before 3.1.0 then 
maybe it is ok to require that, but we have to support upgrading.  Anyhow, 
for some reason it mysteriously started working for me again.  I don't know 
if this is temporary or not, but it was very reproducible before.
