One: why always ~/Something, not ~/.{S,s}omething?
It may be a lame excuse for a configuration namespace [1], but it is one -
and we should stick to it.

And it makes sense anyway. This is for desktop environments, the primary
means of modifying these directories' contents is through desktop
applications (installer and package manager scripts aside). It's better
to hide them unless the user specifically looks for them.
