KGX? WTF?

I just ran across this story at Linux and Main a few minutes ago, I think 
it just got posted.

There isn't enough meat in the story to really understand what is going on, 
but it seems that diluting years of work to establish the KDE "brand" to 
through it out the door to do what appears to be appeasing RMS seems 
foolhardy to me.

Now if a private enterprise were to go off and do this, then whatever, but 
this just seems wrong coming from the League.
