erf.. this ISN'T about viewing gifs or jpegs yet. 

by which i meant that this isn't something that is required right now to 
browse the web like viewing more traditional image formats is. but one day 
*knock on wood* it will be. now is the time to get it solid, not then, not 
later, not by keeping it under wraps because it isn't absolutely perfect yet.
