I just committed kcmkded, a manager for KDED Modules (called "services). The 
idea is to have a central place for advanced users to control the services.  

Currently you can start and stop services, ex- and including them from the 
startup sequence is the next step (the checkboxes for that are already 
there).

I'd like to port kalarmd, kxmlrpcd and other standalone services to kded and 
remove their own kconfig dialogs (which mostly consist of one single checkbox 
anyway) to unbloat kcontrol.
