Generic splash screen class?

Hi,

A few of the apps (such as the kde-edu stuff) use a splash screen, and as far
as I know these are all implemented differently since there is no provision
for splash screens in kdelibs. While I personally detest splash screens (take
the OpenOffice.org one for a good example of being absolutely crap since it
stays on the screen for 1.5 minutes and prevents me from doing _anything_), I
wonder whether it would be a good idea to add a generic splash screen class
to kdelibs.

Some of the advantages I can think of

* Would lead to less code duplication/bugs/wasted development time

* Would be easy to turn off splash screens on a global basis if they are not
liked

* If it disappeared in the same way as ksplash when clicked, it could be less
annoying

Some of the disadvantages

* May encourage more people to use splash screens in apps, although this may
not matter too much if they can be easily turned off globally.

Thoughts?
