Fwd: Problem with printing from Qt/KDE apps using OpenType font

I don't have any answer from TrollTech so far, but I think KDE/KOffice users
should be aware about this problem.
In fact, all KDE apps are affected: Konqueror, KWrite/Kate, and, of course,
If you use Latin (and only Latin!) alphabet for your work, it's unlikely you
will notice this problem.
GhostScript will substitute one of default fonts (like Nimbus Sans, or Nimbus
Roman), and you will get something readable on printout.
But if you use Cyrillic, Greek or other non-Latin language, you will have a
problem. All text (in those languages) will disappear!

Hello Trolls,

I recently discovered PfaEdit font editor [1] , which, to my surprise, can
handle & export OpenType fonts.
I created several OpenType fonts for evalauation
You can download one from here:
(archive includes not only OTF but TTF and PS Type1/PFB as well)

KDE3 (and Qt) renders correctly OTF font on screen
(there are some rendering artefatcs, which I explain in mail below, but
 that's another story)
Problems start when I try to print.
I analyzed resulting PostScript file, and found that Qt says: "Can't find
embeddable outline"
So I beleive that problem with *embedding* font, not with rendering it!
(as Qt/XF renders it ok on screen device)

You can install PS T1 version of this font first, print test page (attached,
in KWord 1.2beta format), and analyze PostScript.
Than you need to adopt PS file/font embedding so that it will include
 OpenType font.
I think PfaEdit has extra references on OpenType specs (both to MS and Adobe
FYI: Windows 2000 /XP can handle such fonts (otf) without extra add-ons.
In order to test on Windows 98/95, or Windows NT, you can install Adobe Type
Manager 4.1 (ATM 4.0 is *not* ok!).
MS's ttfext also correctly identifies font as OpenType, and says that font
contains "Adobe CFF outlines".
In fact, such OpenType font is PS Type1 font *packages* inside
OpenType/TrueType font file format. Outlines remain hinted, with PS Type1
