KDE thought 6 was a reasonable value. Thank god it was configurable because 
QtDesigner hardcoded 11. If we hadn't made it configurable we would now have 
a mess of 6 and 11 mixed everywhere. It was now relative easy to change the 
KDE default from 6 to 11. Hardcoding values troughout your source code is 
just terribly bad practice. In fact code style-guides I have worked with 
explicitly forbid the use of plain numbers in any code.
