Sounds good, but what if I want to install both my "sans serif" and my
"decor font" package? Aren't those profiles mutually exclusive?

In your screenshot the "Advanced" box is checked but I don't see a treeview.
Does this mean the treeview is for base mode only? Much as I am for an
additional "package function" for advanced users (see posting in response
to Craig) I would not want to lose control where exactly the fonts are
stored. (For example I would like to keep fonts from different
manufacturers in different locations or may want to have extra dirs for
serif, decor, fixed width etc. Also I need an easy way to ensure that I
don't have Type1 and TrueType fonts of the same typefaces installed.)

I still think that 2 dir views (as we have now) with a drag and drop option
and as much similarity to standard file dialogs and Konqueror would be more
intuitive ...
