Hey all!

Buckle in, we have a lot of ways to participate in Akademy + KDE’s 30th Birthday Celebration this year!

*The Deadline for Talks Proposals is May 17th!*
First, this is your reminder that the deadline to submit your talk for the weekend (Sept 19 & 20th) is* less than a month away*! We want to know what you've been working on, what you're passionate about, what you think the rest of the KDE Community (and the FOSS world at large) needs to know about, and where you want to see KDE in the future.

Details for this year's call for participation can be found on the website <https://akademy.kde.org/2026/cfp/>. When you're ready to submit your proposal, you can do so at the same place you registered to attend: at this link <https://conf.kde.org/event/11/abstracts/>.

If you have any questions about your topic or the submission process, don't hesitate to reach out the talks committee at *akademy-talks at kde.org*.

*Participate in the 30th Birthday Celebration at Akademy*
This year we are celebrating 30 years of KDE and need your help to make it special. We will be announcing more plans in future emails but for now we have *three things we need help with.*

*1) Be part of the KDE history exhibition*
We want to make a small gallery of KDE’s history to show off at Akademy. Do you have KDE merch, art, old devices, or out of print/custom things you want to show off at Akademy as part of the exhibit? Is it safe to travel with? Think about what you’d like to bring and add it to the list of contributions on this wiki page <https://community.kde.org/Akademy/2026/30th_birthday/gallery>. *The deadline is August 15th *so we can make sure to acquire a big enough table and space to display everything properly!

*2) Share your art and/or vision for KDE’s future to be published in a book!*
We will be making a book by-and-for the KDE community and need your art, vision, hopes, and/or dreams of KDE’s future. You can participate by *filling out this **form* <https://collaborate.kde.org/apps/forms/5N9LXyQXXJKDQSPC/submit>* by* *August 15th*.*
**Only KDE contributors with access to collaborate can see the form, if you can’t see it and want to participate, reach out to me directly and we’ll figure it out.*

*3) Plan to bring (or wear) your oldest KDE or Akademy shirt to Akademy*
For the group photo (Sunday, Sept 20th) we would love for everyone to wear (or hold) their oldest/first KDE or Akademy shirt. Plan to bring it with you for the visual time capsule!

*Logistical Information*
We want as many people as possible to be able to come to this super special Akademy, if you need travel support to get to Graz, the *deadline to assistance is* *May 31st*. Read the policy <https://ev.kde.org/rules/reimbursement_policy/> and submit your application <https://reimbursements.kde.org/events/247> by the end of next month.

On that note, MotoGP(?!) has decided to piggyback on Akademy’s popularity, so start reserving your accommodations as soon as you can. Don’t forget to register <https://akademy.kde.org/2026/register/> to attend!

Thank you for coming to this TedTalk reading this email, keep an eye on your inbox for even more fun announcements soon!
