Hi,
time for another round of updates on the status of our prep work
for QtWS'17.
(a) Team status
I sent out a mail with the registration codes for free tickets and
a few questions on August 29th. As a result we now have 10 people
who have committed to attending and are registered! Thank you!
Some of you have not yet replied to this email. Please do so ASAP.
Even with those stragglers, we're a little light and can take more
people due a cancellation and not enough response. Please consider
stepping up still! Contact me if you have questions.
(b) Booth
We're going to have two locations at the event this year. We'll
have a small bar table at the community area on Level B where we
want to stack some flyers and stickers and place banners. This
location may not actually be manned continuously, it will mainly
serve as a signpost ...
... for our proper, bigger presence in the lounge area on Level
C. We're going to take up the corner by the windows there with
the seating palettes. We're going to have at least one table
(info counter design) and a 43" TV with a leg/stand.
On the table we should place our demo loop machine and the ARM
boards Blue Systems will bring as well as the Plasma Phone demo.
On the seating palettes we want to provide mobile device charge
stations. We still have to properly work out what this means. We
have an idea of the wiring we need (and are talking to the event
planners about providing some of it), but still need to do the
actual physical design work for this.
(c) Assets / theme
We're going with a "KDE Powers You" theme. Our promo materials
will focus on Frameworks, dev tools and Plasma as device
enablement technology - to wit, powering developers, and
literally powering their devices in the lounge with the charge
stations.
Jens has been working on some striking key art for this along
with the signpost banner for Level B. We still need to do more
work on content for flyers and posters. This needs writing work,
please coordinate it on the Phab tasks.
There is no word on demo loops yet. Hoping for people to spring
into action - please coordinate with Jens on the Phab tasks.
(d) Schedule, duty roster
We're likely going to do setup on on the afternoon of the 9th
after Qt Contributor Summit. Several people have confirmed their
availability on the 9th to help out with this, thanks!
>From the replies to my mail about your duty preference, we have
people willing to do all available tasks (booth staffing, talk
chairing, talk video recording). Nice. But as mentioned in (a)
I still hope we'll get additional hands so everyone's duty
shifts can be shorter. I'm not yet doing the duty roster until
more team/schedule details materialize.
(e) Accomodation
Several people in the team have been looking into booking flat
shares. Could you please provide details here if your location
can take more people in case anyone still needs accomodation?
Cheers,
Eike
