fyi, http://standards.freedesktop.org/menu-spec/menu-spec-latest.html , supporting vendor prefixes are not only a good idea, but is strongly encouraged.  "...  it is recommended that providers of desktop-files ensure that all desktop-file ids start with a vendor prefix."
