It sets internal variables which are then used later on by the 
ECMQtFramework.cmake file.
IMO this is not obvious, and I'd like to change it to something else, but we 
didn't agree yet on how it will be, there must be a compromise between 
convenince for developers, buildsystem maintainers and obviousness (is this a 
word ?).
