visibility in trunk

I have just noticed I have reenabled -fvisibility-inlines-hidden in trunk. 
In branches, it was dependent on a test for a gcc bug that doesn't happen 
on i386.

Should I re-add the test? Or is the bug fixed in gcc 4.1.0? I couldn't 
really understand it from the gcc Bugzilla.
