FindQt4.cmake (and it's other corresponding files FindQt.cmake and
FindQt3.cmake) are, afaik, part of the cmake distribution itself so
that sound like an issue to take up on the cmake list (which Alex
referenced previously: cmake at cmake.org).  But, yes, it seems it
could be a bit improved, especially on OS X, which is a bit of an
extreme case (supporting both with and without X11 depending on
the library).
