messages handling ?

Hi,

how will the messages and translations be handled in kde 4 ?
will the scons build system have to do anything about it, or will it be done 
by a separate tool ?

especially i would like to know, if these Makefile.am lines have to be 
replaced by something, or if they could be left out in the SConscript files:

messages: rc.cpp
        $(XGETTEXT) *.cpp -o $(podir)/kasteroids.pot
