i doubt that anyone disagrees on this. i have no practical interest
whatsoever  in the python bindings, but doesn't mean to say i wouldn't
love to have them in a common area in cvs :)

maybe your distro doesn't but gentoo sure does
and debian usually split out packages in any case.
