I don't believe this is a good idea in this instance. There are serious
issues in Linux audio that need to be addressed. Attempting to go cross
platform would obscure this focus, and that would be counter-productive.

Besides, who's going to pay for such a thing? The beneficiaries on Mac
and Windows are for-profit companies. Why would volunteer developers
give them their effort for free (as in beer)? Makes no sense, imho (pun
intended).
