Yes, KMag seems broken with fullscreen mode. Try the Desktop Zoom.
I already filed a wish list item to get the zoom factor saved between
sessions. If anybody else want to comment on this here is the url

The dri I talked about is needed for the kwin effects. KMag should
work without them. So if you have something to complain about
zooming in KDE 4 you should file a bug report against kwin (see above).
I am currently trying to get the Track Mouse effect working. But
nothing happens when pressing Ctrl+Meta. I guess everything
using Meta key is broken here. :/
