Well, my patch adds the new toolbar in the `Text Alongside Icons' mode to the 
window. In fact I wanted that the default look changes as little as possible. 
Your point that for some people it is difficult to figure out if the icon is 
pressed is valid, though. I think this is a point that needs to be addressed 
in a more generic way (i.e., in kdelibs). I could think for example of a 
different background color for a selected icon.

That is already part of the patch. I have attached two screen shots, so that 
all know what we are talking about (without the need to apply the patch
