[Kbabel] Using KBabel with skim (typing in Korean)

Hi, I've been translating for Debian for a while and I've never been
able to get KBabel to work. I've been using Konsole+vim, and sometimes
KWrite.
I currently use Kubuntu, and KBabel is at 1.11.1.
I use skim quite extensively and don't have much trouble typing Korean
for most programs. However, KBabel simply refuses to work. Let me try
to explain (Hope the Korean turns out okay).
The 'Localized Name' textbox for configuring my 'identity' works
great. However, when I load a .po file, Korean input starts acting
strange. For example, 'Korean' in Korean is
한글
but, when I try to type that in KBabel, I am left with
ㄹㅡㄱㄴㅏㅎ
; the letters are not grouped together.
Also, everything I modify and save is deleted. For example, if I have
msgid "Debian installer main menu"
msgstr "데비안 설치 메인 메뉴 프로그램"
........................------+++++----------
and I change that to
msgid "Debian installer main menu"
msgstr "데비안 설치 프로그램 메인 메뉴"
........................-----------------+++++
I am left with
msgid "Debian installer main menu"
msgstr "데비안 "
Is there anything I can do to give you more information?
