for me it looks that error message is misleading.
If I add alias manually to the returned path, the alias appears in GUI and can
be used.
I think the problem is that path chosen is inadequate for this functionality.
It should be somewhere under `~/.local/....` and not under `/usr/local/....`
where user normally have no write rights.
