The molecular editor worked properly inside Kalzium with the version that
worked on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I used Ubuntu 10.04 LTS until I switched over to
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. The molecular editor on Kalzium had a revamped menu system
but the molecular editor came up and only displayed a blank black screen. I
was told to try using avogadro. I was happy found that avogadro--which appears
to be the molecular editor in stand-alone mode worked fine. It also seemed an
improvement.

Some time ago, I noticed that the molecular editor called by the present
Kalzium appeared to fetch the older avogadro screen or its library version! It
never called the newer screen as far as I could tell. Do you suppose that this
could be the issue? I'm not capable enough as a programmer to decipher this on
my own. I only write simple scripts in Bash and Python. Unfortunately, I don't
have a version of Kalzium that ran on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS anymore.

For my Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, my Kalzium version is 2.4.01 using the KDE
Development Platform 4.13.3 (Avogadro inside it doesn't give information on
itself.)
My stand-alone Avogadro version is 1.1.1, library version 1.1.1, Open Babel
version 2.3.2, Qt version 4.8.6. My computer gives the following when typing
the uname -a command: Linux madmod-laptop 3.13.0-74-generic #118-Ubuntu SMP
