[Kalzium] Merging my data-file with your repository

Hi

My name i Carsten Niehaus, I am the author of Kalzium, KDE's periodic table of
the elements [1]. To get an impression of Kalzium, look at the screenshots
[2].

Kalzium has a pretty big XML-based data file. It has almost 5000 lines of xml.
This means about 4500 data-entities. You can see the file here [3]. This file
is good, I really took care that the data is correct. It has far more data
than you have [4].

Therefore I suggest merging my data with your data. For example, my data about
isotopes is more detailed than yours is, but yours is better in terms of both
xml and "science" as you for example mention the precision. But look at one
example of my file:

                        <isotope alphapercentage="100.0" alphadecay="1.83"
betapluspercentage="" betaplusdecay="" betaminuspercentage=""
betaminusdecay="" ecpercentage="" ecdecay="" spin="0+" magmoment="0"
halflife="2290000000000000" halflifeformat="years" weight="143.91008"
neutron="84" percentage="23.8" />

You can see that I have more data for one isotope.

I also have spectrum-data like this:

                        <spectrum intensity="1000" wavelength="17903.209"
aki="0.0" energy1="11532.096" energy2="17116.156" electronconfig1="4d2(3F)5s"
electronconfig2="4d(3D)5s5p" term1="4F" term2="4D°" J1="9/2" J2="7/2" />

I would *love* to share this data with other projects for several reasons.

1.) Others can contribute to it, it is not all up to me
2.) Bugs/errors will be spotted much more often
3.) Other apps will profit, this will strengten the position of free chemical
software in general
4.) All apps using the shared files show the same data! This is importand as
the apps become consitent
5.) Kalzium will get more data as you have some data Kalzium doesn't have

I am absolutly willing to change to another xml-format, I don't care at all
about the structure of the file itself. I only care about the data inside it.
I need xml, that is the only condition I have.

Are you also interested in sharing data (aka: "merging our repositories")? If
so: How can we proceed?

Carsten
