You can't commit it to trunk, as that code... doesn't exist anymore ;-)
That code was replaced by the new painting system, so these changes should be 
done in the new classes.
Unfortunately, there's need for a bit change there, so the fixes have to wait 
a bit :'(

Damn.
But! we can hope for a new message unfreeze, so in that case the changes would 
be valid again.
