Have you tried different CD mediums (or different burning devices)?

CDs differ in quality. And so do CD players.
There is a guy in youtube called 12voltvids.
In one of his long videos he explains the differences between older and newer
CD mediums.
As well as between older and newer CD players (sorry, I don't remember which
video it was).

At the same time, your yamaha cd player is getting quite old,
and the laser becomes "weaker" sort of speak.
Or other problems start to surface.

Yes, the industry never warned us about that.

The bottom line... So even if you find a good quality old type CD medium,
which is the ideal situation,
your yamaha might still be having problems playing it.

I had an old cheap personal audio CD, thought it as being problematic.
Surprise! This HP DVD-ROM managed to play it (with interruptions).
At least I ripped it successfully!

My old LiteOn DVD-ROM has problems playing most mediums.
But it does read old MAXELL DVD-RWs !

(I am writing these things here, because it's all news to me.
And to many others (developers included), I guess.)

In other words...

CD's were supposed to be super reliable...
but they weren't.
