insert a non-empty rewritable disc (I tested a cd-rw)
open K3b, create a data project, add some files
click "burn" button, check "simulate", click "burn" button
K3b asks if you want erase your disc, click "erase" button
Result: your project files were not burned, but the disc was erased.
