Hi,

For the past few years we have been working on a tool allowing school
teachers to customize some activities in GCompris for their specific
needs and to receive pupils results to analyze their answers. We named
it GCompris-teachers. Special thanks to Emmanuel who started it and
helped defining the requirements, and to Bruno Anselme who worked a
lot on improving it and keeps adding new features!
We have finally reached a point where we are happy to provide a first
alpha version for reviews.

The documentation of the tool can be found at:
https://invent.kde.org/documentation/gcompris-teachers-handbook/-/jobs/3645209/artifacts/file/pdf_generated/gcompris-teachers-handbook-en.pdf
or: https://documentation.local-kde.org/-/gcompris-teachers-handbook/-/jobs/3645209/artifacts/html_generated/en/index.html
for the html version. For now, it's only in English but it will be
translatable soon (we prefer to wait until we have feedbacks to be
sure we are going on the right direction and don't have to rewrite
most of it), the English source can be found at
https://invent.kde.org/documentation/gcompris-teachers-handbook/.

We plan to provide this tool only for computers (desktop/laptop, no
Android mobile/tablet), but it will be able to connect to clients (the
main GCompris application) running on any supported platform
(including Android).

We provide a list of activities that are ready for this version (which
can send data to be displayed or for which you can create datasets)
and a test database in:
https://invent.kde.org/education/gcompris/-/wikis/Teacher-administration-tool.

We really value feedback to ensure we are going on the right
direction, so to discuss about it:
* the GCompris mailing list: gcompris-devel at kde.org
* we have a specific Matrix channel for teachers:
https://matrix.to/#/#gcompris-teachers:kde.org in case teachers want
to join and discuss there which can be more dynamic than mails
(procedure to create an account: https://community.kde.org/Matrix).

We are waiting until DECEMBER 15th to get feedback. We will plan to
make the string freeze after that to give enough time to translate,
and release the new version early next year.

Cheers,
Bruno & Emmanuel & Timothée & Johnny
