I don't know for a gnome book. Check for documentation on www.gnome.org
in the developper section, but you don't really need it since the goal
is to move to gtk ;)
For debugging, you are lucky, I have never been abble to run valgrind
with gcompris. I wanted at some point to check for memory leak but
failed. Personaly, i use the command line gdb. ddd is better if you need
graphical view. Adding trace and recompiling is also a good option.
