That's strange. There is some rare occasion that needs a forced update.

Can you send me your code that I can check.

In C, the command you are looking at is:
gnome_canvas_update_now(gcomprisBoard->canvas)

Perhaps a thing like this would work:
gcomprisBoard->canvas.update_now()
