OK, I understand better the process but I still think it's better to
stick to paper for that. You mention advantages of the computer here but
it may also have drawback. Perhaps the duration in days of the exercise
is a important to it, and it won't be easy to manage that... would
implies user and load/save management.

My last chance to try to give you a better idea (imho), we miss a board
where the kid has to order items from the small to big.
By using the drag and drop, you can let the kids experiment by providing
a ruler, then there is hotspot where the items get grabbed on the canvas
when released by the kids.

Now, that's no problem if you do the lines one, it also has its place in
gcompris.
