Hello

Just before leaving on holidays (without computer :-( ), I would like to tell
you about what I was doing for gcompris last weeks.

About the color, my wife and I were choosing colors from the HTML
description, in the aim to evolve the board of Pascal, as I describe it last
month. This work is not complete, because It takes time to choose pertinent
tones not to close ones from others. Sometimes, the HTML definition seems not
good, and we choose to change or adapt it, sometimes it is perfect.

Anyway, I am not sure it is a good idea to show tones in a board like a
povray picture, considering that it impose some shadows tones, and makes much
difficult the recognition by distinguishing. I think it would be better to
show the tones in a purged board, (for the higher levels only).

Here are the first tones we chose
------------------------------------------
reds:
claret;bordeaux;#8B0000
red poppy;rouge coquelicot;#FF0000
maroon;marron;#7F0000
sienna;terre de Sienne;#A0522D
crimson;cramoisi;#DC143C
brown;brun;#8B4513
salmon;saumon;#FA8072
cinnamon;cannelle;#CD853F

blues:
cyan;cyan;#00FFFF
navy;bleu marine;#000080
blue;blue;#0000FF
royalblue;bleu roi;#4068E0
steelblue;bleu acier;#4682B4
skyblue;bleu ciel;#87CEFA
turquoise;turquoise;#40E0D0
lavender;lavande;#E6E6FA

purples:
fuchsia;magenta ou fuchsia;#FF00FF
purple;pourpre;#7F007F
violet;violet;#9400D3
indigo;indigo;4b0082
lavender;bleu lavande;#CCCCFF
mauve;mauve;#CC99FF

yellows:
gold;or;#FFD700
lemonyellow;jaune citron;#FFFF00
orange;orange;#FFA500
strawyellow;jaune paille;#FFFFCC

------------------------------------------
Remember this list is not complete at all.

Now talking about my geography board
I have worked on the graphic representation of Caraibes Islands, in the way
to show them precisly despite their small size ; When in the pool, the
islands were too small, and details where not visible. So I decided to look
other maps of them --much precise and to use the zoomx and zoomy factor of
the xml file. But it work only when the shape is in its correct place. And
when it is in correct place, the reduction of the shape don't fit perfectly
with the background, because of the reduction's algorithm (gnome canvas). So
I was breaking my head to try to make it possible. I didn't succeed.
Considering my current needs, and my future needs about making color rotate
(to avoid child from remember colors instead of shapes, I think it is time to
fork the shapegame.c to specialize it for geography. And yes, it needs lots
of works, considering I am not very good in gnome canvas.

Good holidays to everybody, see you soon !

Jean-Philippe

PS : my english is so bad, I am sorry about it!
