Gcompris has now command line params:

gcompris -?

...
...

Options gcompris
  -f, --fullscreen            run gcompris in fullscreen mode.
  -w, --window                run gcompris in window mode.
  -s, --sound                 run gcompris with sound enabled.
  -m, --mute                  run gcompris without sound.
  -v, --version               Prints the version of gcompris

Note that the option are then kept persistent in 
less ~/.gnome/gcompris

music=1
fx=1
fullscreen=0


This will let us implement a user interface to these options.
